When you talk about a long-distance moving, the first thing you need to consider when hiring professional movers. What is the exact definition of a long distance move? A long-distance move is any move that is over 40 miles, that can be in-state or out of state.
Before hiring a moving crew for a long-distance move, make sure to have all your dates and addresses locked down and correct. Some companies may charge you if you need to change moving dates at the last minute, so before booking make sure to have all your information correct. Next, you need to decide how much you are moving. Are you moving all your furniture or just some or none and buying new?
Once you have a list of what you are going to take, the next step would be to pack. Of course, packing yourself or having friends and family help can save you some money over having a company pack your stuff. Canceling your utilities at your old place and scheduling new installs at the new place is something you should consider doing as well.
Once you are packed and scheduled you need to consider hiring an experienced and insured mover that will handle long-distance moves at a reasonable price, such as Men on the Move! Men on the Move have decades of experience and will always deliver your belongings on time!

A common mistake people make is expecting too much too quick, everything takes time, and building a proper community relationship with friends and neighbors will take some time. Of course, once you are finally moved in you should familiarize yourself with everything around you, grocery stores and local entertainment maybe some tings you want to learn quick and of course the internet can always help you!

Helped complete packing and moved my household about 20 miles.
Member Comments:
It went really well. So well that I don’t know how it could have gone any better. Mex, Jon, and Gene were thoroughly professional and also fun to be around. I’d packed about 70 percent of my household and labeled the boxes as requested in the pre-move planning brochure. Despite the rain, the guys were cheerful and fast. I’m still kind of amazed that we moved me in three hours. I think the use of a third crew member was the key, as I was advised that paying a higher rate for the three-man crew would pay for itself in the overall speed of the move. I think that turned out to be true.
The fact that I could pay by the time unit, rather than by the job, made me want to try Men on the Move and it worked out really well. Some other places I called wanted a lump sum for the job, but without coming out to see my place and my possessions, how could they do a fair estimate? They couldn’t. So I highly recommend Men On The Move, and Mex, Gene, and Jon in particular if you’re lucky enough to get them.

Moving can be a large project. Moving with children can add to your moving stress because your child’s entire routine is disrupted. Learn how to make this transition for your children as easy as possible by following the tips below.
The best way to prepare your child for an upcoming move is to communicate and keep them involved. Let them know that the family is relocating and that everything is going to be alright. Children trust parents and depend on them to keep them in a loop with what is going on. If you are unable to take the children with you while searching, show them photos of homes. This will keep them involved throughout the entire process.
If you are moving a ways from your current location, you may have to switch schools or doctors for your children as well. Speak with your child’s current pediatrician to see if they have any recommendations to help with the process. You will want to ensure that you have enrolled your child in their new school. Do this prior to the move so that they do not have to miss much school.
When you bring your children to the new house, it is best that you have their room set up. Your child will experience feelings of loss by moving into an unfamiliar environment. Having their room set up when they get there, will help your child to relax and feel comfortable in their new environment.
To help you and your child adjust to your new environment, give your child a tour of the neighborhood including their new school and doctor’s office. If you have not already, make sure to secure their new daycare as well.
